SUMMER RIDING CAMP

Chagrin Valley Farms Summer Riding Camp is a week-by-week introduction to horsemanship. Children ages 4 to 16 are invited to experience the fun and responsibility that horse ownership entails. Care, feeding, tacking and grooming complement the daily riding lesson designed to start and expand your child's equitation skills. Non-riding time is spent grooming horses, playing games, doing horse-related crafts and touring the farm to observe area amateurs and professionals preparing for shows. The supervised program is structured in half-day or full-day sessions for one or more weeks running from June through August.

Beginner riders will learn the basic riding skills, grooming and barn safety. More advanced students will have a chance to polish their equitation and horsemanship skills.

Every Friday the campers will participate in a fabulous horse show. Your child will proudly demonstrate riding skills acquired during the week and take home ribbons to treasure.

Very young children ages 4 to 6 or children who have little or no experience are encouraged to participate in our morning programs 9am to 12noon, Monday –Friday. Morning sessions provide the novice with the attention and focus on safety that every parent would expect from a top level riding program

Older Children or those with more advanced skills, may ride either in the morning or afternoon session, or enjoy our all day program. The afternoon session runs 1pm to 4pm. All day campers should arrive at 9am and will need to be picked up by 4pm.

Parents should pack a snack and beverage for their child whether in the AM or PM session and include lunch if attending all day. Children must wear long pants and hard soled shoes with a heel for riding. We can provide helmets (with the required chin straps) if your child does not own one, but this is a logical purchase for any child planning to continue their riding career.
